The probiotic earns the claim. The honey delivers it. Together they redefine what a daily supplement can be.
A proprietary formulation of New Zealand Mānuka and Rewarewa honey with 2 million CFU of BC30™ (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) — the world's most clinically validated spore-forming probiotic, delivered in the world's most bioactively complex honey carrier. MPS PolySure™ certified. One snap. No powder. No pills. No fuss.
BC30™ is supported by over 45 published research papers. Mānuka Performance's Dr Lillian Morton PhD reviewed the full body of evidence. These are the key clinical findings directly relevant to GI-PRO™.
Not all probiotics are equal. BC30™ is differentiated by its spore-forming mechanism, stability, and the depth of its clinical evidence base. This is what earns the claim — and what the honey carries.
H. coagulans help create an anaerobic and acidic intestinal environment, making it inhospitable to various pathogens, which promotes the growth of more beneficial probiotics such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium (Cao et al., 2020). BC30™ can also produce antimicrobial compounds which hinder pathogenic bacterial growth.
H. coagulans GBI-30, 6086 has been scientifically proven to promote intestinal digestion and nutrient absorption through its ability to produce a variety of enzymes (Cao et al., 2020). These enzymes degrade carbohydrates and proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids and promote their metabolism and absorption — a mechanism with direct relevance to both everyday gut health and sports performance recovery.
BC30™ has been shown to normalise the number of splenic lymphocytes, macrophages and T-lymphocytes and immune system functionality (Cao et al., 2020). Probiotics play a role in human immunologic homeostasis through their interaction with the gut microbiome — and the GI tract is the primary site of immune system interface.
Over 60% of elderly patients experience gastrointestinal complaints including indigestion, abdominal pain, flatulence and GERD (Kumar et al., 2020). Dysbiosis in the microbiota has been implicated as an underlying pathogenesis of indigestion, which in turn results in malabsorption of nutrients and compromised immunity — making a validated, food-format probiotic like GI-PRO™ a compelling preventive and therapeutic option.
The honey in GI-PRO™ is not a flavour vehicle. It is a bioactive delivery system — with its own prebiotic function, polyphenol profile, and synergistic interaction with the BC30™ probiotic.
New Zealand honey contains carbohydrates that exert a prebiotic effect in the human gut. Honey has been shown to act as a substrate for Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli in the colon, and the non-digestible sugars in honey reach the colon where they serve as a nutritional source for these beneficial bacteria (Hajam, 2024). The polyphenols and sugars in honey synergistically interact in the colon, creating an environment that proliferates beneficial bacteria, and inhibits pathogens in the gut (Hajam, 2024).
The polyphenols in honey also exert antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects which positively affect the gut environment. A bidirectional relationship exists between the gut microbiome and polyphenols — the presence of polyphenols and their metabolites in the colon directly impact the health of the colon by modulating the microbiome composition (Fraga et al., 2019). Honey also contains minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium) and vitamins (ascorbic acid, B-vitamins) which contribute additional nutritional value within the same one-snap daily dose.
GI-PRO™ is designed around a specific and scientifically grounded synergistic mechanism. The honey feeds the bacteria. The bacteria transform the gut environment. The result is measurably better than either component alone.
GI-PRO™ is the first commercial expression of the Mānuka Performance daily snap platform. The same honey carrier, the same PolySure™ certified matrix, the same one-snap convenience — applied across a growing pipeline of health applications.
Each pipeline product uses the same validated PolySure™-certified NZ native honey matrix as its carrier — creating a compounding competitive advantage across every new formulation. No new supply chain. No new analytical infrastructure. The platform scales.
Dr Morton prepared the GI-PRO™ scientific monograph — a comprehensive review of the pharmacokinetics, RCT evidence, and mechanistic science behind BC30™ and the honey prebiotic interaction. She also authored the foundational MPI-funded PolySure™ research underpinning every Mānuka Performance formulation.
